She's A Growing Girl......
I brought Kate to the pediatrician's office today to get weighed. Last Thursday she weighed 6lb. 5oz. We were guessing that she probably got back to her birth weight of 7lb. But no, our little girl is an eating machine. She weighed in today at:
7lb. 6oz.

6 Days Old
Kate looked so cute this morning for church, I could hardly stand it!!
She's now 6 days old & doing quite well. She is so skinny. She has little bird legs & definitely has Cory's feet! They look like Carter's did when he was a baby. We think she looks a lot like Carter did. When my Dad & Grandpa Altop were at the hospital they both made a comment that she looks just like Carter!
She sleeps A LOT!! I forgot how much they sleep when they are newborns. She is really good at falling asleep while nursing, so I feel like I am feeding her all day long! She's had some really good nights & some not so good. For the past 3 nights she has been awake for a feeding in the middle of the night & then cried for about an hour after. Nothing makes her stop, she finally just gets tired & falls asleep. I haven't figured out what is causing it yet, but I am trying not to get frustrated by it. I know how fast the time goes so I am trying to cherish each moment.
Some nights I have her sleeping next to me in my bed. It's just easier for feedings & she sleeps pretty well right next to me.
It has been so wonderful having Cory home this week & I know the next 2 weeks are going to fly by! I don't know what I am going to do when he goes back to work! It is great having him here to take Carter to & from school!!

Kate's 1st Doctor Appointment
When we were in the hospital, Dr. Lloren came to check on Kate & discharge us. This was on Wednesday morning. We were supposed to stay in the hospital for 48 hours, due to me being positive with the Group B Strep. 48 hours would have been 10pm on Wednesday night, which meant we would have had to stay until Thursday morning. Dr. Lloren felt that Kate looked great & was having no complications, so he was going to discharge us that morning, but we MUST bring her in the office on Thursday morning to be checked again. I was so glad, I did not want to stay another day in the hospital!
We brought her in to the pediatricians office on Thursday morning where we saw Dr. Niazi. She said that Kate was doing really well & there were no problems. She did have a little bit of jaundice, but nothing to be too concerned about. Breast feeding & having her by a window with sunlight coming in should help.
Her stats as of today are:
Weight: 6lb. 5oz. (25%)
Height: 20" (50%)
Head: 13 3/4" (50%)
I'll take her back in next week to have a weight check again & then she will return for her 2 month appointment.
