Claire's Melodrama

Claire's class did a melodrama and she played a girl named "Little Nell." She had to memorize many lines and she did a great job. It was super cute play. 

Carnegie Honors Night

Carter was invited to Carnegie's Honors Night, where he received an award for getting all A's the entire year and all O's for citizenship. He also received an award for being in the Honor Band.

A week before the awards ceremony he told me that he needed to be early that night because he was asked to play an original song that he wrote in band. We thought he was going to be playing the xylophone, but it was actually on the piano. He did an amazing job on it. We are sad that Mr. Tulga is retiring this year. Carter learned a lot from him and we will miss all of the band concerts. 

Memorial Day

We spent Memorial Day at Jolynne's house. The kids enjoyed swimming with their cousins and we had a delicious bbq. We are excited that summer is almost here!

Harry Potter #3

Claire finished the 3rd Harry Potter book this morning. She woke up early and stayed in bed until she finished, right before lunch time. She is really enjoying this series and it's fun to see her soak it all in. 

Little Snuggle Bunny

I can't remember the last time Kate crawled up on me and fell asleep, but it was nice to have it happen today. She must have been really tired. I hope she will do it again someday!

Activity Day Talent Show

The Activity Day girls held a talent show for their families this evening. Claire brought some items to put on display. She brought a couple of her paintings, her lead rope that she made at horse camp 2 years ago and a little stitching that she made. So cute!

Claire Takes Up Stitching

Claire came home from school yesterday and said that she needed to make a button hole and sew on a button for a costume that one of her classmates needed to wear for a play. I figured we would need to head over to my mom's house to get help with this project. But Claire surprised me....she did it all herself! Then she proceeded to pull out a sewing kit that she got for Christmas a few years ago. She spent about 5 hours last night and at least that many today, stitching away. She ended up with a little felt piece that says "Claire loves HP (Harry Potter). Way to go Claire!

Tree Trimming

Our oak tree in the backyard needed some branches trimmed that were hanging too low, so Cory decided to tackle it himself. What started as a little project turned into quite a big one! The oaks tree got trimmed and them all of the trees that line our back fence line were also trimmed. We ended up with a HUGE pile of branches. The scariest part of the day was when Cory swung from a branch and it ended up snapping and he landed flat on his back. Ouch! Luckily he was fine after a few minutes. 

The back looks really nice with all of the trees cleaned up now!

4th Grade Hoe Down

I had so much fun watching Claire at her hoe down today. They learned how to square dance in PE and have been practicing for a couple of months. They did such a good job and it was neat to have a professional caller there. 4th grade is the best!

Happy Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day! I love the homemade cards and reading the funny things my kids say about me. Church was great; Cory spoke in Sacrament Meeting and did a great job. Carter played prelude music in Sacrament Meeting and Claire & Kate sang with the Primary. 

We had a yummy dinner at my moms house with my siblings and their families to end the day.

Kate Heads to Level 2 in Gymnastics

Kate's gymnastics teacher, Ally, informed her that she is ready to move up to level 2 in gymnastics. She was given a medal and she can start level 2 next week. Way to go Kate!

Claire's Spring Choir Concert

Twin Lakes Spring Choir Concert was this evening. Claire sang her heart out and the entire choir did a great job. She didn't complain at all this year about waking up early to be at choir by 7:15am. 

Sacramento Zoo Field Trip

I got to go with Kate on her field trip to the Sacramento Zoo today. Her friend Abby was in our little group and we had a fun time wandering around, looking at the animals. Our favorite part was watching the giraffes eat lunch. The girls were able to get really close and watch them eat lettuce. 

Claire's Field Trip to Coloma

Lots of field trips at the close of the school year! Claire went with her class to Coloma today. They did some gold panning and went on a little hike. She had some fun at the river, being with her friends.
