Kate tried bananas for the first time today. She made a couple of funny faces while eating. She only ate about 1 tablespoonful. Her favorite thing to do is chew on the spoon.

The Middle Finger
Carter came home from school today & asked me if the middle finger is the bad finger.
I've been waiting for the question for a few years now. Ever since Carter was a little boy he has always pointed with his middle finger. We tried to get him to use his pointer finger, but he never did. At school today he said that his friend Hayden told him that he always points with his middle finger & that's bad. I explained to Carter that yes, sometimes he does point with his middle finger. He got a little defensive & said "No Mom, I don't. I use my pointer finger."
Now that one of his friends has pointed it out to him I think he might start thinking about it a little more. I wish that he didn't have to go through this, because really, why is the middle finger bad anyways?? Because someone once decided to say it was bad & means something bad?? It's just a finger!! I really hope he doesn't get teased at school about it.
Carter's 1st T-Ball Game
Carter FINALLY had his first t-ball game. The first 4 games were rained out & he only ended up with 2 practices!! Needless to say, these cute little boys did not really know what they were going to be doing on the field! When I reminded Carter this morning that he had a game in the evening he said "But Mommy, I don't know how to hold the bat." Oh, sweet Carter! I told him that we could practice after school & that he would be just fine.
The 12 boys on his team looked so cute in their Red Sox uniforms. The way t-ball works is when your team is up to bat each boy gets a turn to hit the ball. There is no score kept. The inning is over when each boy on each team has had a turn at bat. The game lasts 1 hour. When the team is in the outfield every boy is out there. It was so funny to watch; when a ball was hit you would see about 8-10 boys all run for the ball no matter where it was on the field!! Carter had a lot of fun. He loved being up to bat. Grandma & Grandpa were able to come & watch the game as well. Kate fell asleep in her stroller & Claire loved playing with random dogs that went by.
I think the snack bar is going to be a hit for after the games. Claire picked out a snow cone & Carter got a ring pop.
Looking forward to his next 2 games this next week!
(I'm so glad that we can walk to the park..parking is insane with all of the games going on!)
Claire's Quips
Claire likes to say "When I grow up I'm going to be........
a boy or Daddy or a princess" etc.
At Carter's t-ball game she had been playing with different dogs & she said
"When I grow down I'm going to be a dog!"

Sitting Up
Kate is doing pretty good at sitting up on her own now. She can stay in the sitting position for a couple of minutes before she topples over. She's really good at playing with the Leap Frog spinning toy that we have. She can spin it on her own & loves to hear the different sounds that it makes. She also loves to crawl over to the corner of the family room, in between the couch & the tv. There are usually blankets & a pillow over there & she likes to climb on top of them.
She has started to "really" crawl (up on all fours & not army crawl) a little bit. Her fastest mode of transportation is still the army crawl though. She enjoys watching Carter play the Wii as well.

Carter's 6th Birthday Party
Carter had a lot of fun at his birthday party. He invited Daniel, Ryan, Hayden, Drew, Grayson & Maddox. When all of the boys arrived they kind of went crazy! They were everywhere, playing with Legos in the family room & taking every toy that Carter owns out of his bedroom! I couldn't do much about it....Cory was stuck at work & Kate was just waking up from her nap. So I just let them play. And it worked out just fine. Every toy was picked up before they went home.
For dinner we had pizza, strawberries & finger jello. The kids did the guessing game & made their bookmarks & then Carter opened his gifts.
He received a really cool planet mobile to make for his room, 2 Lego Factory sets, 3 Star Wars Lego sets, 2 Star Wars t-shirts, a helmet & a bike!
After gifts we had his birthday cake & then the kids played some more. Carter really loved having his friends over. I'm just not sure I can handle all these boys at another party next year!!
Carter was so tired at the end of the night he actually fell asleep on the couch during prayer!
Happy Birthday Buddy Boy!!
Getting Ready For Carter's Party
A few months ago I started talking to Carter about what kind of birthday party he wanted & he came up with a Star Wars Lego theme. I found some Lego City Car sets for a reasonable price so I picked those up to give to the kids instead of a goodie bag. I bought six of them so Carter was limited to inviting six friends. I found an invitation that I liked on Etsy that was $15.00 for the girl to create it & then I could have them printed at Costco. Cory looked at it & said that he could make them. They turned out great...and they were free!!
So for a few months I have had the theme, the Lego sets & the invitations that I wanted but I just was not motivated to do anything else. Luckily my friend Michelle just threw a Lego party for her son, so I used a bunch of her ideas!
This morning we went to pick up balloons for the party. It was pretty windy out & Claire was holding the balloons as we left the store. I thought she was going to blow away with them!
I made Lego cakes for his party. I bought I pan that has 9 cavities, each one holds approximately the amount of a cupcake pan. I frosted them bright colors & put matching m&m's on top.
I filled a jar with Legos & had the kids guess how many they thought were in the jar. The kids also made Star Wars book marks. Other than that, my idea was to let the boys play Legos in the family room when we had down time.
Carter's Birthday At His Kindergarten Class
Claire, Kate & I went to Carter's Kindergarten class about 1/2 hour prior to school ending to bring brownies for his birthday. Mrs. Sarte had actually forgotten that his was his birthday & said that he never reminded her that today was his birthday. I think most kids probably talk about all day! His class sang to him (while doing sign language) & then Carter helped me pass the brownies out. Claire loved being in his class & all of his friends wanted to be around her & Kate. It was really cute! I felt bad when some of the boys in his class came up to me and asked if they could come to his birthday party too. I wish we could invite everyone, but I'm not THAT CRAZY!!
Happy 6th Birthday Carter Ethan!!
