Claire's Quips

This was part of Claire's prayer this evening:
"Bless that Kate will be good & mommy won't have to text Daddy.
Bless great grandma that she will heal. Thank you for all of the things that great grandma made."

September FHE

We hosted Family Home Evening this month & celebrated birthdays for Kate, Sydney, Erin, Courtney, Tom & Dad. We started out playing a game about prayer. Then we made these cute skeletons made out of q-tips. The kids were very creative & they all turned out cute. Presents were opened & then we had Pumpkin Pie cake & brownies for dessert. Kate loved all of her gifts.

Apple Hill

Carter didn't have soccer practice today so we decided to make a quick trip up to Apple Hill. We arrived about 3pm & enjoyed the beauty & wonderful smells that only come from Apple Hill. We walked around the pond & wandered through the craft booths. And then we got some yummy treats; always the best part. We love Apple Hill and the tradition of going each year.

California Region Map

I was able to help in Carter's class today as they made their California Regions Map out of a sugar cookie. Our Art teacher made 64 cookies, which were at least 12 inches long. What a lot of work that must have been!
The kids frosted them with white frosting & added green sprinkles for the valley, blue for the coast & Lake Tahoe. Then they did red & yellow sprinkles with red hot candies for the desert. Chocolate chips were added for the mountains.
They turned out great & the best part was they got to eat them!

Claire's Artwork

I had a little bit of time to work in Claire's class prior to helping in Carter's class & I'm so pleased that I did! The kids were able to meet their 6th grade buddies. Claire's buddy is Destiny & she was so sweet with Claire. Claire drew a picture of each of them & then they colored a picture. I also took some pictures of her artwork around the classroom.

Happy 3rd Birthday Kate!

This little girl turned 3 today! It's hard to believe, the time has gone by so fast. Kate woke up to find balloons & streamers in the family room. She opened a few presents & then we headed out to take Carter & Claire to school. I asked Kate what she wanted to do today & she just wanted to stay home & play games with me.
Before lunch we went to Icing on the Cupcake to get a special treat for the birthday girl.
Kate had a great day & we are so happy she is part of our family!

Kate's Birthday Dinner

Cory caught an earlier flight home from Southern California, so we went out to celebrate Kate's birthday at Islands. We had a fun time & Kate loved the molten cake they brought her. We all sang to her  & then we devoured the dessert!

Improvement?

Our bathroom had this beautiful 80's light fixture when we moved in. We've had this other light fixture since we lived in our first house. We were going to renovate the master bath in that house, but we moved prior to getting that done.
While my Dad was here this morning helping me with my dryer issues I asked him if he wanted to install it.
Looks a lot better in there; just need to do a little painting.

Why Won't My Clothes Dry?

I am constantly having to run my dryer twice to get the clothes dry. I mentioned it to my Dad yesterday and he came over this morning to see what he could find. He went up on the roof to look at the vent and found that it was completely filled with lint. I cleaned it out and couldn't believe how much was caked in there! So gross!

A Night At Grandpa's House

We went over to Grandpa Altop's house this evening. We brought a pizza & I made delicious peach crisp for dessert. Cory needed to use Grandpa's scroll saw to cut out some acrylic arrows for Cub Scouts. Grandpa worked his magic on the saw while Cory looked on. It could have easily been 30 years ago, my kids were doing the same things I did as a kid at my grandparents house. We were just missing our beloved Grandma. They played hide and seek out front and then with the blocks in the family room. My girls wandered through the house looking at all of Grandma's dolls, just like I used to do. Such lucky kids to have a great- grandpa in their lives.

Soccer Saturday

Today I headed to Carter's game in Folsom while Cory & Kate went to Claire's game. Carter started off as goalie for the first half of the game. He didn't have to do much, the ball never made it down to their side of the goal!  After the game he said "the first half of the game was boring, I should have brought a chair to sit in." They ended up winning 4-0.
Claire played goalie as well. They don't keep score but her team made 9 goals.
