Cameron Park Fireworks Show

Jeff and Kristen invited us up to their house for a BBQ and to watch the fireworks that Cameron Park has every year on the Saturday prior to the 4th of July. It was so hot outside, but we still had a fun time. The kids swam and we ate and then watched the fireworks which started a little after 9:30pm.
Kristen had invited some families from their ward as well and our kids became fast friends with them.

Space Derby

Cub Scout pack meeting was this evening & after the awards were given out they held the Space Rocket Derby. Carter worked hard on getting his rocket ready for the race. He used a potato peeler to shape his rocket & Dad helped him with the sander to make it smooth. Next he picked out paint colors & painted it. He had a lot of fun racing his rocket.

Happy Father's Day 2013

We had fun celebrating "the best dad ever" today. We made "lumberjack breakfast" in the morning. It was a tin foil meal that we cooked on the BBQ: sausage, hashbrowns, egg, green onion and cheese. The kids gave Cory a couple of ties and a t shirt. We updated our yearly book with a picture, hand prints and message. The kids filled out "All About Dad" forms too. We went to church where the Primary kids sang to the dads; Kate went up too!
We headed to Jeff and Kristen's for dinner and the kids had fun playing way past their bedtime!

Cub Scout Twilight Camp

Carter attended Twilight Camp this past week, from June 11-14. Cory was able to go each night & help out as well. The boys met at the church at 4:30pm each day & arrived back home around 9pm. Carter had a lot of fun & was able to pass off many requirements. I think his favorite was the archery & bb gun!

If You Could Go Anywhere In The World Where Would It Be?

While Cory & Carter were at Twilight Camp I brought the girls to Red Robin for dinner. On the kids menu there was a questionnaire about where you would want to go in the world. Here are Claire & Kate's answers.
I would go to:
Claire- Hawaii
Kate- my mothers
I would go there on:
Claire- plane
Kate- school bus
I'd go with:
Claire- my mom and dad
Kate- my mom
Wearing:
Claire- a swim suit
Kate- shirt
With my pet:
Claire- cat
Kate- giraffe
And I would send postcards home to:
Claire- Kate
Kate-my mom

Picnic Dinner and Hike

We brought a picnic dinner to Ancil Hoffman park for family home evening. After eating we went over to the Effie Yeaw Nature Center. The center was closed so we went on a little hike there. The kids want to go back when it is open so we will have to plan a day sometime this summer.

Summer Days

Our first week of summer vacation has arrived and luckily it brought some cooler weather. The kids are keeping busy playing together.... sometimes playing nicer than other times. One thing they love to do together is freeze one of Carter's Star Wars figures and then find different ways to melt the ice block. (Re-creating the part where Hans Solo was frozen in carbonite in The Empire Strikes Back.)
