I found some of my old jewelry from Senior Ball & decided it was time to add it to the girls' dress up chest. Kate was so happy to try everything on. She looked so cute in the pearls & clip on earrings!

Claire's Last Day of Pre-school/Graduation Ceremony
Today was Claire's last day of pre-school & they also held a little "graduation" ceremony. It was my day to work as well, so that was fun to be there for the last day. They had their normal school day & then each of the kids put on a graduation cap & Miss Lindi presented them with a certificate. At the end of the school day we enjoyed ice cream sundaes & had a cute cake with their school logo on it. One of the dad's was in charge of putting together their yearbook & it turned out awesome! There are so many pictures of the kids throughout the school year. I'm a little sad to see the year end; Claire had a lot of fun & made some great friends. She mostly played with Maria & Allie. We also loved Miss Lindi & will miss seeing her. Luckily, her kids go to Twin Lakes, so we always see her at the elementary school.
Claire's Last "Weather Report" Of The Year
When a parent works in Claire's classroom, the child get to pick a "job" for the day. It could be: light inspector, line leader, weather person, calendar person, or bell ringer. For the past few months Claire has picked weather person for her job. She tells the class what the weather is like that day. This morning when it was her turn to stand in front of the class she whispered in my ear: "I'm too shy Mom."
I laughed out loud & told all of the parents what she had said. They all know that Claire is not shy!
Great job Claire!

Claire's Field Trip To Fliptastic
Claire's pre-school class had their last field trip of the year today at Fliptastic. They spent an hour climbing, playing & jumping in the bounce house. Claire had so much fun with her friends. We're sad that the school year is coming to a close.

Marci's Baby Shower
We held a baby shower for Marci this evening & it turned out wonderfully! Tom & Marci came into town for the weekend so we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to shower her with a party!
We had an amazing spread of food for dinner:
chicken pasta salad, caprese skewers, fruit bruschetta, fruit platter with french cream dip, veggie platter with dill dip, salami & cream cheese, Hawaiian sweet rolls, artichoke dip & strawberry angel food cake for dessert. There were over 30 people in attendance & she received some really nice gifts. We can't wait for his arrival in July & then for Tom & Marci to return here in August.

Gross story:
I had so much to do today to get ready for the shower. I was cleaning the house & making food. Claire told me earlier this morning that her stomach hurt so she spent most of the day laying on the couch. When Kate took her nap I had planned to get a lot of stuff done. I cleaned the downstairs bathroom & then was up in our bedroom putting laundry away. Claire came upstairs & said she wanted to lay on our bed. Then she asked me to lay down with her. I had so much to do, but thought I'd lay down with her for a few minutes & maybe she would fall asleep. After about 2 minutes she said "Mommy, I have to throw up!" I put my hand over her mouth & tried to get us up off the bed. We didn't have enough time & her throw up started coming out between my fingers, all over my clean white sheets, carpet & bathroom floor. Luckily she was upstairs & not in the downstairs bathroom, which I had just cleaned! Claire looked awful. She was pale & feeling miserable.
I couldn't believe this was happening the day we were going to be having a party at our house! Unfortunately you can't plan sickness! Cory took all of the kids over to my parents house during the shower & when they returned later in the evening she still didn't look good. Saturday morning she was feeling much better!

Carter's Fishy Show
Carter's class, along with the other two 1st grade classes held a "Fishy Show" performance this morning. Carter had the very first speaking part which was:
"Ahoy good friends & family too; come along with us to the ocean blue."
He did a great job & spoke loudly & slowly into the microphone. The pictures & video that I took during the performance are pretty dark due to the lighting, so I video taped him after the show was over. Way to go Carter!

Carter's 7 Year Check-up
Carter had his 7 year check-up with Dr. Gould today. His appointment was at 10:15am this morning, so there wasn't any reason to send him to school prior to that. We didn't get home until 12:30pm, so I just kept him home today. He was quite pleased!!
His appointment went well. Dr. Gould looked at the scar on his ankle from his septic arthritis surgery & commented that Carter was "the talk" of the office for a while after that. He said that the staff reviewed the symptoms, etc. of septic arthritis. No immunizations were needed today!
Carter's stats:
Height: 49"
Weight: 48 1/2 lbs.
BMI: 14.2
He's a healthy & happy growing boy!

Eclipse Of The Sun
This evening we were able to witness an amazing annular eclipse. We got my Dad's binoculars out & turned them backwards so that the eclipse showed up on the side of the house. Carter tried to draw the shape of it, but it was too hard to keep the binoculars steady. It was pretty weird how the eclipse made the shadows of the leaves look crescent shaped. I'm glad that Carter was able to witness this.

Fiona's Fairy Party
Claire was invited to her friend Fiona's birthday party today. It was a fairy party & was so cute. They had it at a park in Fair Oaks. Each of the girls got a fairy headband & they had face painting as well. Fiona's Mom read a book to them out in the "woods" and then they went on a scavenger hunt to find the birthday cake. Claire had a lot of fun!

Mother's Day
I celebrated a wonderful Mother's Day today. We tried to get a picture of the kids & myself on Sunday morning, but someone was always looking away or squinting! Oh well!! Carter & Claire sang with the Primary in Sacrament Meeting, which was so sweet.
Carter had made a picture, card & coupon for me at school. He did a great job on the picture, flowers in a vase. It was even laminated. My coupon was good for 2 free car washes, 2 hugs, 2 kisses & 2 back massages! The card said:
"Dear Mom,
Happy Mother's Day! I love you because you care for me. And when I get sick. (he meant when he was in the hospital.) And when you came on a bike ride with me. Love, Carter
You fill my heart with love."
After church I enjoyed a long nap & then we went to my parents house for a bbq. We had a great meal; everything was delicious!!
It's nice to have a day where you get spoiled just a bit more than usual!!

Workin' At The Car Wash.....
The kids were out this morning helping Cory wash the cars. Kate found some boots in the garage & put them on herself. She looked a"dora"ble (in her Dora pj's) with Carter's old boots on. Claire was still in her pajamas as well & donned some pink boots.
Kate loved walking around with the 2 sponges used for cleaning the cars.
I'm happy to have a shiny, clean car again!

Laughs With Great-Grandma
Kate was having a fun time with her Great-Grandma this evening. They were playing peek-a-boo with Grandma's sweater. There were lots of laughs & ear-piercing squeals coming out of Kate's mouth! I'm so happy that Kate has this opportunity to know her Great-Grandma!!
Father/Son Campout
Cory & Carter headed out to Rancho Seco for the annual Father/Son Camp out. Carter was so excited to go & Claire kept saying "This is not fair!" She really wanted to go & was remembering the Father/Daughter camp out from last year. Maybe there will be another one......

Mother's Day Tea
I was invited to Claire's pre-school for a Mother's Day Tea this morning. I had a "grand" time with Claire. ("grand" just sounds like a word you would use with "tea!") When I arrived at the school there with beautiful tables set up with tablecloths & a plate that each child had drawn on. There was also a hand-painted watering can filled with flowers. The whole class came out to the yard wearing aprons, carrying a cup that they had planted sunflowers in. We enjoyed a delicious brunch with muffins, bagels & fruit. We also had lemonade. There was some tea there as well & one container was labeled orange spice tea. When Moms & kids walked up to the food table Claire let them know that there was spicy tea there! Claire also presented me with a hand-print flower that she had made. It said "I love my Mommy 'cuz she helps me clean my room!" (When we got home Carter made sure to point out that 'cuz is not a word!) Claire, I had such a fun day with you!!
