Primary Family Movie Night

Our Primary had a family movie night in our Bishop's driveway & it turned out to be a lot of fun! We watched "Megamind" and the kids sat in the back of trucks or in chairs. They ate tons of popcorn and red vines and enjoyed being with their friends. We love our ward!

Birthday Fun At John's Incredible Pizza

Claire went to her friend Casey's birthday party this evening at John's Incredible Pizza. She had fun with almost all of her soccer team friends. All of the kids were given a game card for the arcade and rides after they ate pizza. Claire & Mayzie went around together and had a blast.

Pioneer Day

We enjoyed a fun morning at our Stake Pioneer Day Celebration. We started out with a pancake breakfast. After that the kids went off and did lots of different activities. Claire & Kate had their hair braided which turned out really cute. There were potato sack races, 3 legged races, bocce ball, horseshoes, crafts & homemade bread where the kids made their own butter. They had square dancing & a fun photo booth too!

Safteyville....Again

We went back to Safteyville this evening with some friends & the kids had so much fun! Between the 3 families we had 10 kids there.
Kate is doing such a good job on her bike and is feeling pretty confident on it now. Carter & Claire thought it was a pretty neat place too. I'm hoping that we can find another free night to go again!

Arizona

Carter & Claire were able to go Arizona with my Mom for Brandon's mission farewell. They had a fun time hanging out with Rachel & Ethan. The long drive isn't very fun, but they were troopers! They got to eat out a lot & swim at the hotel pool. Kate was happy to have them return home!

Safteyville

While Carter & Claire are in Arizona, I wanted to do some fun things with Kate. I thought it would be fun to take her to Safteyville to ride her bike around. During the summer months they open the town up to little kids to ride their bikes around. (Safteyville USA is a miniature town that was designed to provide safety education to young kids.
When we first arrived Kate wanted me right with her the whole time. She hadn't been on her bike for a few weeks so she was a bit wobbly. After a couple times around the town she had a lot more confidence and then she was off on her own. Cory & I sat in the shade and she just kept zooming by us with a big smile on her face. I was so proud of her, she did really well!
A couple of men asked me how old she was & they were impressed with how well she was doing.
It was a warm night out, so we got Kate a snow cone so she could cool down a bit. She did not want to leave either! I told her that we will come back with Carter & Claire; maybe next week!

Doe, A Deer, A Female Deer!

When we were leaving Mom's house this evening we went to see if any deer were out in the field. (In the summer time evenings there are almost always deer out there.) We spotted 4, and they were pretty close to the entrance of the field. There was even a little baby deer & it was so cute! Tom hopped the Lyon's fence and threw some apples from their tree out to them & they came closer to check them out. They were very tame and not really afraid of us.

Celebrating the Big 38!

We went out to eat at Benihanas to celebrate Cory's birthday. The kids really enjoyed having our chef cook the food at our table & they tried foods that they normally wouldn't. And guess what.... They loved it! After our meal they brought out ice cream & sang to Cory. It was a fun night!

Bounteous Gardens

We have been enjoying the fruits of our neighbors labor, literally! They bring us tomatoes, cucumbers, plums, peaches and more! Aileen brought over a vase full of sunflowers that they are growing in their backyard too!

Kate's Kandids

This afternoon Kate handed us a piece of paper. It had her name on it, with a heart & a zig zag line through the heart. I asked "is your heart broken?" She said yes, because she couldn't see Jesus! I showed her some pictures of Jesus and said she could close her eyes anytime & see him. A few minutes later she handed me another piece of paper that said "I love Jesus so much."

Saturday Morning Hike

Carter needed to go on a hike to pass off a requirement for Webelos. He decided on a 2 mile hike at Discovery Park. When we arrived at the parking lot, the kids spent about 20 minutes picking up trash, which was another requirement that he was able to pass off! The kids couldn't believe all of the trash that they found. They filled up a plastic grocery bag and it was mainly candy wrappers.
We started our hike and were pleased to see that most of it was shaded. Everything was so green and there were wild grape vines, blackberries & elderberries galore! We saw a bunch of homeless camps (they were vacant!) in the bushes and also saw a deer! It was a beautiful morning in nature.
