Kristen gave Claire & I a cute Jamberry manicure for our birthdays. Claire picked out a cute fox set and I went with some fall colors. Claire still has the most beautiful nails out of anyone I know!

Claire's End of Soccer
Claire's last soccer game was today & her end of season party was this evening. She had a great season & ended the year playing goalie the last few games, which she really enjoyed.
Instead of trophies this year, each player on her team received a Christmas ornament with their team picture on it. So cute!

Kate's Artwork
Kate has brought home some cute artwork from school the past few weeks. Today they made turkey hats! Yesterday I helped in the class and the kids & I made pumpkin pie. Each child was able to add one ingredient and then Mrs. Sarte baked them at home and today they had pie for their snack. Kate said it was delicious! She is really enjoying her class.

Carter's End of Soccer
Carter's soccer party was tonight & he received a cool trophy. The season started off with him not enjoying soccer too much, but by the end of the season he was having more fun. His team did a great job; they only lost 1 game!

Carter's parent/teacher conference was today too! He attended & led the conference.
Mrs. Black said "Carter is making great academic progress towards standards. He uses class time wisely, is well-prepared for the day, puts forth his best effort into assignments, stays on task, readily grasps new concepts and ideas, and is extremely respectful to others in the group. His best attribute is that he helps keep the work group focused and on task. "
Carter received 3 (+) in all areas.
Way to go Carter!

Claire's First Trimester Report Card in 2nd Grade
I attended Claire's parent/teacher conference today. Ms. Bailey said:
"Claire regularly demonstrates the seven successful practices & is improving her grit as the school year progresses. She will stay with a task longer even when it is difficult. Claire regularly links events at home to those we are learning about in school and creates connections with enthusiasm."
Her PE teacher said "I love her enthusiasm and creativity."
Music teacher: "Wonderful student & great participation."

Kate's First Trimester Report Card
I attended Kate's very first parent/teacher conference today. Mrs. Sarte just loves having Kate in her class. She received 3 or 3+ in all areas and "O" for Often (the highest!) in self discipline & schoolwork. Kate can identify all 26 letter names & can count aloud to 20. She really enjoys art & is eager to learn.
Way to go Kate!

November FHE and Birthdays
We hosted Family Home Evening at our home tonight. I decided to do "appetizers" for dinner, which turned out really great! Everyone brought one or two things to share and there ended up being plenty to eat. I also made some delicious cupcakes and pumpkin pie cake for dessert.
Claire gave a wonderful lesson on "The Good Samaritan" using a flannel board. She told the story all by herself and I was so proud of her!
We celebrated November & December birthdays too! Claire was pretty excited to have her birthday a month early. I thought it would be nice to have it a bit further away from Christmas and she happily agreed! It ended up being a fun evening!

Kate's Handwriting
Kate's handwriting is really coming along. While I was working in her class this morning she said she wanted to put a "W" after Kate. Then she decided that she wanted to spell our last name.....and she did it without any help! I didn't even know that she knew how to spell it.

Let's Skate
Claire's friend Addie had her birthday party at a skating rink today. None of the kids know how to roller skate so it was pretty comical watching them. Claire went out on the rink but had to hold onto the wall most of the time. With it being a holiday, the place was packed, so I didn't let Kate out onto the rink. She stayed on the carpet but still had a fun time with Ava.
Veteran's Day
Happy Veteran's Day! We are so thankful for all those that have and still are fighting to keep us safe!
Kate made a little flag at school and was proud to show it.

Light The Night
There is a little kindergartner Mia, at our school who has leukemia. We have never met her, but her teacher, Mrs. Rice decided to raise money for the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society in Mia's name. For about month kids were donating change, holding bake sales and asking family members to donate to the cause. The goal was $10,000 and I believe the total came in at around $8,000.
This evening there was a Leukemia/Lymphoma walk at Raley Field. I thought it was an important event that the kids should participate in to show their support of Mia, so I signed our family up to go.
It was an amazing night. There were thousands of people there to walk for different loved ones and friends. Each of us was given a lantern to carry. The red lantern was in support of someone that is currently fighting. We walked from Raley Field across the Tower Bridge and then back to Raley Field. When we got back to the field we got to walk around the baseball field and the kids sat in the dugout too! It was so neat to see all of the lanterns lit up as we all walked.
We are praying that Mia fights this and gets better!

Carter's Field Trip
Carter went on a field trip with his class to the IMAX theater downtown to watch a film on Lewis & Clark. I wasn't able to go, so he rode with my friend Kitty and a car full of boys! He had a great time and enjoyed the movie.
