A Drive in the Model A

Tom & Marci brought their kids over for a quick ride in the Model A before it is gone for good. Phillip and Zoe had never had a ride in it before and loved riding in the rumble seat. What a fun adventure this has been!

11 Year Old Campout

Carter & Cory went on a camp out with the 11 year old Scouts last night. They camped at one of the church buildings that has a little bit of land. It turned out to be pretty comical because the sprinklers came on in the middle of the night. The boys ended up moving to the pavilion but then the sprinklers hit them there as well! So they ended up on the gym floor in the church. Being scouts...and boys...they didn't seem to mind and still had a fun time!

Swimming Pool Nightmare 2016

We've been having trouble keeping our pool blue this summer. Cory has added chemicals and taken samples to the pool store, but we just haven't been able to get it under control. I asked our neighbors pool guy if he could come look at it. He said it had mustard algae and we would need to drain the pool and get a new filter. We knew a new filter was needed since the one we have wasn't big enough for the pool.
We drained the pool, which took a day; and we lost our warm water. That was the saddest part! Then we filled it back up and the pool guy, Ralph installed the new filter. He also added all the chemicals that were needed and he came by everyday for a couple weeks to get everything perfect. Now it is the bluest we have ever had-just a bit too cold for me though!

Back to School - 2016

We had our annual back to school dinner on Wednesday night. Cory bbq'd steak and we had mashed potatoes, grilled zucchini, salad and a delicious chocolate cake for dessert. Claire set the table on her own.
After dinner Cory gave each of the kids a priesthood blessing for the start of the new year.
Carter, Claire & Kate were excited for school to start. They got up early and were ready to go without any problems.They each brought a pencil vase of flowers for their teacher.
Carter is in 6th grade with Mrs. Busch,
Claire is in 3rd grade with Mrs. Hatfield.
Kate is in Kindergarten with Mrs. Rice.

Carter is happy that most of his friends are in his class. There is only one full 6th grade class and a 5/6 combo. Carter is excited to go to Sly Park this year for 6th grade science camp for a week.
Claire has lots of friends in her class. She really likes her teacher and is ready for a year of fun and learning.
Kate loves Kindergarten. She goes all day long which is a change for her but she is happy. There are 5 other kids from her TK class with her.
They are all ready for an awesome year!

Carter Finished The Harry Potter Series

Carter started the last Harry Potter book about a month ago and finished it today! He was at Scout Camp for a week of that time, so he really read it in about 3 weeks! He made a goal to finish it before school started, but 2 days ago I told him that if he finished it by Saturday then I would take him to Leatherbys! He finished about 5pm today! On our way to Leatherbys we stopped and got the newest book "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child." Carter is so excited to start it.
We really enjoyed our black and tan ice cream too!

Soccer Starts For Claire

Claire started soccer practice today. We missed the first week because we were in Tahoe...but I wasn't too sad about it! This is her 3rd year on the Minions and she has made some great friends on the team. Here's to another fun season!

Cousin Campout

Tom & Marci invited all the cousins over again for their annual Cousin Campout. A lot of the cousins weren't available to come but the ones that went had a fun time! The made s'mores, watched Zootopia outside, camped in the backyard and had strawberry belgian waffles for breakfast. It was a huge success and my kids look forward to it every year!

Helping At The School

Claire's 1st grade teacher emailed and asked if Claire would like to come and help her get her classroom ready for the new school year. Claire was so excited to help out and Kate went along with her. They helped put labels on Mrs. Dumford's class library books. They spent 2 hours there an Mrs. Dumford said they were a huge help!
I LOVED to go over to Riverview when I was in elementary school and help the teachers. It was one of my favorite activities to do in the summer.
