Carter Lost His First Tooth!!

Carter has had about 3 wiggly teeth & the first one came out tonight. He was eating dinner at Grandma & Grandpa's & he walked over to me & said "My tooth just came out."He had been eating a piece of french bread & when he ate a piece of the crust if fell out. He rinsed his mouth with some salt water & then I brought him into the bathroom to look at his mouth. I could tell he was on the verge of tears & then he just started crying. It's hard growing up!!

After everyone made a big deal about it he started feeling better about it & was happy.

Grandpa gave him a quarter which he thought was so cool!

He put his tooth under his pillow & was surprised in the morning when the tooth fairy left him $2.00!!

Corn On The Cob

After I finished my corn on the cob I gave the cob to Kate & she gnawed on it for about 20 minutes. She loved it & when it would roll away from her on the tray of her highchair she would get mad & yell!!

Kate's Ready To Give A Talk

Carter & Claire had a Primary Activity at the church today. Kate & I hung around while they wrote letters to the missionaries. While we were in the Primary room Kate crawled up to the podium, climbed up on the step, & pulled herself up to the microphone. She looked like she was ready to give her first talk!!

Completing Swim Lessons

Carter & Claire completed their 2 week session of swim lessons today. They had fun & learned a lot. Today was "fun day" & they were able to go down the water slide. Claire wanted to go down with her teacher but she did enjoy herself. Carter loved the water slide as well.

At the end of class they each received their report card & they both can move up to the next class. To pass the Guppy class Claire had to:

fully submerge face, supported front floating, supported back floating, bubble blowing, supported kicking on front, supported kicking on back, introduction to alternating arms. Claire's teacher wrote: "A joy to have. Doesn't like being on her back but will do well in minnow."

To pass the Otter class Carter had to do:

10 bobs (continuous), retrieve objects from chest deep water, stream line front & back, stream line with kick front & back, back crawl arm action, combined stroke 5 yards front & back, back to front recovery, front to back recovery. Carter's teacher wrote:

"I'm so glad you were in another class of mine! You are wonderful! Move to seals!"

I haven't decided yet whether we will do another session this summer. Carter said that he doesn't want to so we will see! I'm so proud of both of them!!

Kate's Teeth

I finally got a picture of Kate's 2 bottom teeth. They are growing bigger, which makes them easier to see now. Those are still the only teeth that she has.

Happy Birthday Jeff!!

Jeff had a birthday today so his family invited all of us to go to Leatherby's to celebrate. We ended up with 24 people, which makes for lots of ice cream!!! I brought Carter & Claire while Cory stayed at home with Kate, who was already in bed. I had the Paul's Royal Raspberry Fudge & Carter & Claire both had a dish of rainbow sherbet.

Happy Birthday Jeff!!

Father's Day Dinner

We went to Jeff & Kristen's this evening for our Father's Day dinner & monthly Family Home Evening. We had a hamburger bar that was really tasty. We ended the evening with delicious cheesecake....yum!!! The kids love to get together with their cousins. It's great to live close to family. (All pictures were take from Kristen's blog!)

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day Cory! We hope you enjoyed your special day. The kids added to the book that we do every year. This year we were able to add Kate's hand prints to it!

Daddy got a new watch & a new board game called Munchkin.

Carter made a Lego house for Daddy too!

Cory spoke in Sacrament Meeting today. I was supposed to speak also but wasn't feeling well enough yet. Cory gave part of my talk that I had prepared.

This evening we had dinner at Jeff & Kristen's house.

The Worst Pain Of My Life

I have mastitis & it is awful!! I am in so much pain. It's like having the flu but 100x's worse.

I woke up yesterday morning & my right breast hurt so bad when I went to nurse Kate. My body was achy also, so I knew something was going on. I made an appointment with Dr. Knight for 10:30am. Carter & Claire had swim lessons at 11:20am, so Cory said that he would come home & take them. Around 9:40am Cory called & their system had crashed at work so he would not be able to leave. I called my parents house & my Dad was so nice to come over & take the kids to their lessons. Kate & I went to my appointment & Dr. Knight confirmed that I had mastitis & prescribed some Dicloxacillin for me. He said that it would take a couple of days for me to start feeling better.

After my appointment I drove to the pool to get the kids. We were supposed to be meeting Lori Anne over at her mom's house so the kids could swim. By this time I felt so sick. My Dad said he would take Carter & Claire back to his house so that I could rest, so I called Lori Anne & rescheduled. I got Kate down for her nap & then I crashed on the couch.

I was supposed to have Activity Days on Friday morning but didn't think that I would be feeling better yet so I called my friend Morgan who works with me & she said that she would take care of it. She also came by & brought me a cold Pepsi & a McFlurry. What a great friend!!

This morning my Dad picked Carter & Claire up again & kept them for the day so that I could rest some more. I am hoping that the achy body & fever chills go away soon. I've had a fever of 102 degrees & a headache for the past 2 days. I only have 3 more months of nursing & hope I don't get this again!!!

Kate's Swimming Debut

Marci invited the kids & I over to her parents house to swim this afternoon. This was Kate's first time swimming & she loved it!! We were in the water for about 2 hours & she really enjoyed herself & I don't think she even made a peep.

Carter swam like crazy, jumping off the sides & having fun with Marci's brother Chris.

Claire wore a life vest & for the first little while she wanted to stay on the steps or have someone hold her. Taking 3 kids swimming by myself sure is a challenge when I have to hold the baby whole time & one doesn't swim on their own yet. Luckily I had Marci & Tom to help me!

By the end of our time swimming Tom had Claire out in the middle of the pool floating on her back all by herself. She did such a good job!

Thanks for a fun afternoon!

Day 2 Of Swim Lessons

Carter & Claire enjoyed another day of swim lessons. I'm so glad they love being in the water.

After their lessons we walk over to the park & eat lunch & the kids play for a little while.

It sure did warm up, just in time for swim lessons!!

The Start Of Swim Lessons

Today was the first day of summer vacation & all 3 kids were awake by 6:20am!!

Kate was crying in her crib & it woke Claire up. I sent Claire upstairs to our bed to go back to sleep & luckily she slept until 9am! Kate went back down from 7:30-9am & then we started our morning off on a better note!

Carter & Claire had their first day of swim lessons. This is Claire's first year & she enjoyed herself. She even went all the way under water. She is in the guppy class.

Carter loved getting back into the water. It's so cool, his teacher is Miss Ellyott, who was in his kindergarten class everyday as a student aide from the high school. She was thrilled to see Carter. He is in the Otter class, but Miss Ellyott said that he is such a good swimmer, she may move him up to the next class. She first wants to see how he does with distance swimming. Today they worked on some strokes.

Kate hangs out with me during the lessons, bringing smiles to all those around us!

"Here's A Flower For You, Mom!!"

Oh, my little Claire bear. You sure do bring a smile to my face. Half the day you drive me crazy, but that other half, you just make me laugh!! You are such a friendly & brave girl who will talk to anyone & you make friends so easily. Last week we were stopped on the Hazel bridge & out your window was a construction worker. You asked me to roll your window down & then you yelled out "Hi!!" to the man. It took about 4 hi's for him to hear you, but once he saw you his face lit up with a huge smile. A minute later another worked climbed up from under the ground. Once his head popped out you yelled hi to him too & he smiled. And then when we drove away you yelled "bye!"

I think you made their day!!!

******

On Friday night our next door neighbors were having a graduation party for their son in 6th grade. They had a bounce house in their front & backyards with lots of friends over. It was pretty noisy with all of the kids playing & the sound of the fan going to keep the bounce house up. It was time for our kids to go to bed & the party was still going strong next door. Claire kept coming out of her bedroom saying that the boys were too loud & she couldn't sleep. After multiple times of getting out of bed she went over to the window & yelled "Boys, I have to go to bed now. Be quiet." Cory & I were laughing so loud!!! They didn't hear her, but we had a good laugh. She is not shy!!

School's Out For Summer!!

We officially have a first grader now!! Today was Carter's last day of Kindergarten. He had such a great year & learned a lot. He made some wonderful friends too!

Mrs. Sarte invited the parents to come to the class for the last hour of school today. Carter showed me his mad skills with the hoola hoop. He played one last time on the playground with his friends & then we all went into the classroom to hear the children sing a couple of songs to us. Mrs. Sarte called each of the children up one by one to give them their "diploma" and she said a couple of nice words about each of them. When it was Carter's turn she said that a little birdie told her that he had just read the first page to a Harry Potter book. All of the other kids in the class yelled out "Carter!" They must know that he reads a lot! She said that he will do very well in first grade. Mrs. Sarte made memory books for each of the kids with pictures from different activities that they have done throughout the year & things they have written about. Carter was looking at it this evening before bed & he started getting teary eyed & he said to me "If I miss my kindergarten class I can just get my book out & look at all of the pictures & my memory will come back to me."

After school got out at noon Carter went to his friend Hayden's house. They went to Taco Bell for lunch & then he played with him until 6pm. Perfect start to summer vacation!

***************************

Carter received his last report card also. He received all 4's except for

written language conventions: 3+

statistics, data analysis & probability: 3

He also got all O's under classroom effort.

He has improved so much in his writing from the beginning of the year. It's amazing to look back at his work from last August & see the difference now. He has really become a great artist as well!!

Good job Carter!!!!
