Mormon Battalion Historical Site

We had such a fun time at the Mormon Battalion Historical Site. They renovated it a few years back and it is really nice. The sister missionaries were our tour guides. I was able to find information on Henderson Cox, who is my great, great, great uncle. He was killed at Tragedy Springs while looking for a company traveling to Utah. I signed the guest book they have for ancestors of Mormon Battalion members.
The kids were able to pan for gold and they each got to take 2 pieces home.

Old Town San Diego

We stopped for lunch at a Mexican restaurant in Old Town which was delicious. Chips and salsa were great... Kate was even eating the salsa with a fork!! A little band came by to play for us and they played "Twinkle twinkle little star" and "It's A Small World." Pretty awesome. After eating we walked around Old Town for a few minutes. We loved it... So many museums to go through. I wish we had more time. We did go into the first San Diego courthouse, which the Mormon Battalion helped build.
We want to come back and spend more time here.

San Diego Temple

This morning we went for a little visit to the grounds of the San Diego Temple. It was absolutely beautiful!! I have only driven past it on the freeway before, so it was great to walk around and get pictures this time. The kids loved it and Claire posed for a million pictures! Next time we hope to have a chance to go in!!

The Beach In Carlsbad

We made it back to Carlsbad late afternoon and grabbed a quick bite to eat. Then we headed down the street and enjoyed some delicious Cold Stone ice cream and watched the sunset. We got to the beach just as the sun disappeared. The kids had fun playing in the sand for a few minutes before it was dark.

Balboa Park

After visiting the Mormon Battalion Museum we went to the beautiful Balboa Park. This park is amazing and there is so much you can do. Kate fell asleep in the car on our way so Cory sat in the car with her while Carter and Claire played on the playground. It was so warm and sunny; such a great afternoon.

Fireworks

We had a perfect view of Disneyland's fireworks show from outside of our room door. It was so loud, but fun to see.

Visit with The Nilsson's

We stopped in Bakersfield to visit with Micah and Cheryl, on our way to Disneyland. Cheryl made a delicious lunch and we ended up staying for 4 hours. The kids had a lot of fun playing and the adults had fun catching up. I sure wish we lived closer!
